Akak Marine was established in 1967 by Akef Khoury. Until 1992, Akak Marine Co S.a.l. operated as a container shipping line, with a regular service from North Europe, the West Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea, to the East Mediterranean. In 1989, Akak Line operated 13 vessels with total slot capacity of 2500 Teus. It had a 50% market share of the total trade in Lebanon.
